The bacon cheeseburger and ultimate garlic sausages from Hot Doug's will make their triumphant return later this month for the first ever "Dog Dayz of Summer" hot dog festival.
Doug Sohn, the owner of the popular North Side restaurant that closed its doors in October, announced the hot dog and beer menu Tuesday for the June 27-28 festival.
Sohn closed the restaurant amid high demand for his dogs, saying it was time to move on from the restaurant business. Fans of his sausage creations, however, weren't quite ready to let go.
In response to his former customers' demands, Sohn teamed up with Goose Island Beer Company to create "Dog Dayz of Summer." In addition to eating hot dogs and drinking beer, festival goers will also be entertained by local punk and country bands that will perform at the festival.
Sohn himself will serve up his hot dogs and sausages behind the counter and chit chat with customers, just like the old days.
Tickets are $75 and include Goose Island beer tickets, Hot Doug's sausages and duck fat fries. They can be purchased online.
