Suburban Home Featured in ‘Sixteen Candles' Sold

On a quiet tree-lined street in a Chicago suburb, a home with big Hollywood history is finally off the market.

The six-bedroom, four-bathroom brick home at 3022 Payne Street in Evanston, which was featured in the 1984 John Hughes film "Sixteen Candles," had been listed for $1.49 million when it hit the market in 2016, and was finally sold in late June.

The sellers took a loss on the house, selling it for $1.135 million, according to Realtor.com.

In the film, the house was the home of Samantha Baker, played by Molly Ringwald, whose family forgets her 16th birthday.

“As you enter the foyer, you will picture yourself sharing dinner parties in the amazing dining room and the elegant living room with a wood burning fireplace and gorgeous plastic cast molding,” the original listing said.

According to Forbes, the estate was sold by investment banker Stephen Miles and his wife, who raised their children in the home. The new buyer has not yet been identified.
