Three local brainiacs are competing for a spot at the the 41st annual International Chemistry Olympiad, to be held in Cambridge, England, this summer.
The three suburban Chicago high school students are among 20 finalists chosen from 12 states to compete for the U.S. Olympiad team. They are John Rosenberg, of Barrington High School; Krystle Leung, of Naperville Central High School; and Robin Jia, of Oak Park/River Forest High School.
The 20 finalists will take part in a summer training camp at the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs in June, and from that pool of talent, four students will be chosen to compete July 18-27 against teams from more than 65 other countires.
The U.S. has been competing in the event since 1989.
