An investigation into a "suspicious object" in Chicago's Logan Square neighborhood on the Northwest Side Wednesday prompted a bomb squad response and shut down streets in the popular neighborhood for hours.
Closures were reported near Fullerton and Central Park Avenues around 11 a.m. as police said multiple units responded to the scene.
A person dropped off a suspicious package just after 10:30 a.m. mailbox in the 3600 block of West Fullerton, according to Chicago Police News Affairs.
Fullerton was blocked from Kimball to Monticello and Central Park was also being blocked in the area, police said.
Footage from the scene showed a bomb squad office approaching a mailbox in the area and investigating a package. A robot was also nearby.
Just before 1:30 p.m., police said the scene was being cleared and the "suspicious object" was not an explosive but appeared to be narcotics related, but the exact contents remained unclear.
Police said an alleged offender was taken into custody but further information wasn't immediately released.
