Heat Advisories Issued in NE Illinois, NW Indiana

Heat indices could push above 100 degrees Sunday and Monday afternoons in some areas

Heat advisories have been issued for parts of northern and eastern Illinois as oppressive humidity and high temperatures settle over the region.

A Heat Advisory will be in effect from 1 to 6 p.m. on Monday as temperatures are expected to peak in the low 90’s, with heat indices pushing up to around 105 degrees.

DeKalb, Kane, DuPage, Cook, La Salle, Kendall, Grundy, Will, and Kankakee counties in Illinois are all affected by the advisory, and Jasper, Lake, and Newton counties in Indiana are also listed. 

High temperatures and humidity are expected in areas around Chicago through the end of Monday, with scattered thunderstorms also possible in the impacted areas.

Residents in the affected counties are advised to remain indoors in air-conditioned rooms and to drink plenty of fluids. Residents are also asked to check on relatives and neighbors
