Hawks Headlines: President's Trophy Curse Talk Abounds

Also, why Jonathan Toews and Brandon Saad should take home awards hardware

As promised, Madhouse Enforcer is proud to present Hawks Headlines, a series of posts designed to track down the latest news surrounding the Chicago Blackhawks. We’ll also have random videos and stories that can be found around the web, so if you’re ever wanting to get your Hawks fix, you have to look no further than right here.

-Yesterday on the blog, we debunked the notion that the President’s Trophy is some kind of a curse upon those who win it. In that vein, Dan McNeil of 670 the Score penned this column about how it actually is a curse. His arguments are less than compelling. [Chicago Tribune]

-Katie Baker also discussed what it means for the Blackhawks to win the President’s Trophy. Her answer is that it lies somewhere between “jack” and “squat.” [Grantland]

-Mark Lazerus follows the lead of Chris Kuc in arguing that Jonathan Toews should be the winner of the Hart Trophy, given to the NHL’s MVP. He also argues that Brandon Saad should be the front runner for the Calder Trophy, which is given to the league’s best rookie. [Chicago Sun-Times]

-In a story that occurred yesterday, apparently Patrick Kane had some fun in Edmonton. If you’ll recall, he also got into trouble in Vancouver in 2010, posing shirtless along with John Madden and Kris Versteeg in the back of a limo, so this isn’t his first whiff of mischief in the Great White North. [Deadspin]

-Finally, the Blackhawks were extremely satisfied with what they saw from center Drew LeBlanc in his NHL debut Wednesday against the Edmonton Oilers. [CSN Chicago]
