‘Hawks to the White House

The Stanley Cup did plenty of traveling last year after landing in Blackhawks gloves following the team's win against the Philadelphia Flyers.

And now it heads to the White House.

President Obama will honor the Blackhawks' 2009-2010 victory with a ceremony at 2 p.m. Friday.

Along with two former teammates, Brent Sopel and Cristobal Huet, players join Chairman W. Rockwell “Rocky” Wirtz, Team President John McDonough, Executive Vice President Jay Blunk, General Manager Stan Bowman and Head Coach Joel Quenneville.

After the ceremony, the team hosts a children's street hockey clinic on the South Lawn with the Washington Capitals.

Michelle Obama, NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman and USA Hockey Executive Director Dave Ogrean will oversee the games as part of the first lady's "Let's Move!" anti-childhood obesity campaign.
