A new mugshot of Dennis Hastert, the former U.S. House speaker embattled in a sex abuse scandal, was released by authorities Wednesday.
In the mugshot, Hastert’s hair is disheveled, his brow wrinkled and his lips pursed.
Records show that Hastert is no longer at the federal prison hospital in Rochester, Minnesota, where he was serving a 15-month sentence for a financial crime he committed while trying to cover up past abuse. According to the Federal Bureau of Prisons website, Hastert is in the custody of the Chicago RRM, a residential re-entry management field office which manages inmates going to home confinement or halfway houses.
The Bureau of Prisons said in a release Hastert's projected release date remains Aug. 16.
The 74-year-old was serving time for violating banking laws by trying to pay $3.5 million to silence a man who says he was abused by Hastert when the former speaker was a high school wrestling coach decades ago.
The Bureau of Prisons and Hastert's lawyers could not immediately be reached for comment.
