Gustafsson, Dauphin Trimmed From Blackhawks' Camp Roster

The Chicago Blackhawks are getting closer to setting their regular season roster, as they trimmed three more players from the final list.

The biggest name on the list is forward Laurent Dauphin, who was acquired from the Arizona Coyotes in the trade that sent Niklas Hjalmarsson to the desert southwest. Dauphin was hoping to make the team as a bottom-six forward, but won’t make the cut as he will begin the season with the Rockford IceHogs.

Forward David Kampf was also assigned to Rockford after turning heads with his training camp performance. The 22-year-old signed with the Blackhawks after four years in the Czech League, where he scored 15 goals and dished out 16 assists for Chomutov Pirati last season.

Finally the Blackhawks assigned defenseman Erik Gustafsson to Rockford. The blue liner, considered a long shot to make the roster, scored five goals and added 25 assists for the IceHogs a season ago, and has 14 assists in 41 career NHL games.

With the moves, the Blackhawks have 18 forwards, 11 defensemen, and three goaltenders left on their roster. They’ll need to be down to a maximum of 23 players by the time the regular season begins on Oct. 5 with a home game against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
