Guardian Angels Patrol Oak Park

The Angels are escorting women home from the train late at night to help prevent further attacks

The Guardian Angels have begun volunteer patrols along the CTA Green Line in Oak Park, where five women have been attacked since March 30.

Police say a man is targeting women walking alone late at night and choking, beating and robbing them. The attacks have all happened between 11:40 p.m. and 12:45 p.m.

Each night for the last week, volunteers have escorted as many as 15 people home from the Green Line between Austin Boulevard and Harlem Avenue. They're also patrolling areas near elevated tracks on bike.

A composite sketch was released earlier this month by Oak Park police of the man believed to be behind the attacks. The sketch was based off a detailed description provided by the third victim, Lisa Dodge, who was attacked on April 4.

Anyone with information on the man in the sketch is asked to contact the Oak Park Police Department by calling 708-386-3800 or by sending email to police@oak-park.us. Information can also be provided anonymously by calling 708-434-1636 or at www.oak-park.us.
