Glendale Heights Couple Arrested After Dog Freezes to Death

A Glendale Heights couple is in custody after their allowed their dog to freeze to death on their porch.

According to police, Jonathan Flores-Barona, 26, and his wife Monica Alanas, 21, were arrested on misdemeanor animal cruelty charges after their 18-month old shiatsu was found dead after being left on a porch overnight last week.

Police say that the couple had an argument, which ended with Flores-Barona taking Alanas’ belongings, including the dog, to a Northlake residence. The next morning, the dog was allegedly found dead on the porch.

The couple will appear in court on Feb. 20 after being charged with one count of Cruel Treatment to an Animal, a Class A Misdemeanor.
