Does Chicago have the appetite for another steak house?
Apparently it does when powerhouse names such as Giuliana and Bill Rancic and the Melman family are involved.
Details about RPM Steak have been trickling out over the past few months, but over the weekend, Giuliana provided some details about their newest restaurant that will be located at the corner of Kinzie and Clark.
"According to Bill Rancic, it is late summer. According to the Melmans, it is fall. If I had to predict, I would say the doors open on October 1," Giuliana said, while appearing at an event at a Naked Grape wine event to support the global nonprofit Clothes4Souls.
The steak house will be their second restaurant venture after opening the highly-successful RPM Italian last year.
"I went and I saw the space a few weeks ago and it's an unbelievable space. The menu is coming along and we're doing tastings. I think Doug Psaltis will outdo himself on this one," Rancic said. "The menu will be quite different and people will love it. It's a steakhouse, but a little more modern. It's not your grandpa's steakhouse."
Beyond taste-testing new dishes, Giuliana and Bill are co-hosting the new NBC matchmaking show Ready For Love premiering on April 9.
When it comes to balancing her busy workload and motherhood, she emphasizes the importance of putting family first.
"The most important job of all (is) being a mom. It's incredible. We love what we're doing, but we will eventually scale back a little bit to be here and to spend more time with our family. The most important thing is Duke," Rancic said. "We love Chicago and we've made no secret of the fact that we want Duke to go to school here and any future kids we may have. I'm all about family and friendships and that's what we have here. We don't have that in Los Angeles. When Duke gets a little older and we have to think about school, we'll come back to Chicago full-time."
Duke is still shy of his first birthday, but Giuliana admits she's already thinking about another baby.
"If it wasn't so difficult to have Duke, we probably would be saying, 'Whoa it's so soon!' It would be a blessing. I would love to have more children. Duke took years of infertility and so many struggles and breast cancer. Is it in the works now? No, but it is something we definitely want to do. But one thing at a time right now," Rancic said.
