Girl With Autism Found After Being Reported Missing From Gary

A 16-year-old girl with autism who was reported missing Wednesday morning from northwest Indiana was been found.


Samantha Thomas went missing about 9:30 a.m. from the 2500 block of Madison Street in Gary, according to Gary police. She suffers from autism and had not had her medication.

Thomas was located and has returned home, authorities said. Details on how she was found weren't immediately known.

Thomas is described as 5-foot-6, 185 pounds with brown hair and green eyes, and was last seen wearing black shorts, pink tank top and flip flops, police said.

She was last spotted near 25th Avenue and Adams Street.

Anyone who sees Samantha is asked to call 911. Do not approach her because it may startle her and cause her to run
