Attacker Pulled Girl Into Van, Sexually Assaulted Her: Police

A 13-year-old girl was sexually assaulted in broad daylight Tuesday on Chicago's Far South Side, according to police.

The incident took place at around 3:56 p.m. in the 1400 block of West 109th Place in the city's Morgan Park neighborhood, police said in a community alert - just a block away from Lamb Park.

Authorities said an unknown man got out of a white van with two cargo doors and approached the young girl from behind.

He grabbed the victim and placed her in a chokehold, according to police, forcing her into the van where he sexually assaulted her.

She was able to escape and notify police, officials said.

Authorities were searching for the man and the van, though police said the girl was not able to see any distinguishing marks or writing in the van and the description of the attacker was simply a man believed to be between 30 and 35 years of age, wearing a black hoodie.

No one is in custody in connection with the assault and the investigation into the incident remained ongoing.
