Man Killed, 6-Year-Old Girl Wounded in Shooting on Chicago's South Side

A man was killed and a 6-year-old girl was wounded in a shooting Thursday afternoon in the Park Manor neighborhood on the South Side, police said.

The girl and a 22-year-old man were both shot at 2:27 p.m. in the 6800 block of South Calumet, according to preliminary information from Chicago Police.

The man was shot multiple times in the chest and was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said. The Cook County medical examiner’s office could not immediately confirm the fatality.

The girl suffered a graze wound to the ear, and was taken in good condition to Comer Children’s Hospital, police said.
