Man Pulled From Fox River Dies

A Bolingbrook man pulled from the Fox River near the Geneva Dam after trying to rescue a young boy around midday Friday has died.

Randy A. Suchy, 57, was in "very critical" after being taken to Delnor Hospital.

Witnesses said he and the boy were fishing near the dam when the boy went into the water. Suchy jumped in to rescue him, the Kane County Chronicle reported.

Geneva Police Cmdr. Eric Passarelli said it's believed the boy is the son of Suchy's girlfriend.

The pair were pulled from the water by a group of passing bicyclists.  One of those men, Neil Edeleson, injured his foot during the rescue, the published reports said.

The Kane County coroner's office will be conducting an autopsy.
