Game 7 of World Series Delayed for Rain

As Game 7 of the World Series at Progressive Field in Cleveland went into extra inning Wednesday night, the game was delayed due to rain.

Officials said they "didn't want to take any chances" during the rainy weather and will wait it out. The game is expected to be finished, however.

Heavy showers were expected to hit both Chicago and Cleveland by 11 p.m. CT, NBC 5 meteorologists reported.

Rain had already started to fall on Wrigley Field Wednesday afternoon, where stringent parking restrictions were to remain in effect until Friday.

As if the potentially perilous weather didn't induce enough anxiety, the game has also fallen on National Stress Awareness Day.

The game sat at 6-6 heading into extra innings Wednesday night.
