New Fry Ranking Stirs Debate on Social Media

The ranking was based on two metrics: taste and texture

Would you like fries with that?

An LA Times reporter’s answer to that question has social media buzzing.

Lucas Peterson set out to rank the best fast food French fry, and his answers aren’t sitting well with many foodie fans.

The ranking was based on two metrics: taste and texture, Peterson wrote.

McDonald’s is getting ready to test the idea that bacon really does go with everything, as the fast food giant will offer free bacon slices with everything ordered next Tuesday between 4 and 8 p.m.

The top-ranked fry on the list was Five Guys, followed by McDonald’s.

Del Taco, Steak ‘n Shake, Arby’s, Carl’s Jr., Dairy Queen, Wendy’s, Shake Shack and Burger King also made the top 10.

The ranking prompted a massive social media debate, leaving fans of Chick Fil-A and In-n-Out up in arms.

The LA Times later started a bracket challenge for readers to share their fry reviews.

As of Thursday, the top four fries on the bracket were Five Guys, Chick Fil-A, McDonald’s and In-N-Out.

Chicago-based McDonald’s came in second because “their half-life is astoundingly fast.” Peterson wrote the fries have approximately four minutes of being “searing hot” before they “taste like mealy little icicles.” But in those four minutes, he said, they “are the greatest food on Earth.”

Which fries are your favorite.
