We may be well into spring officially, but a reminder of winter could come for a brief visit overnight Tuesday.
As temperatures dip into the 30-degree range Tuesday night through Wednesday morning, patchy frost could potentially settle on inland areas of Chicago.
After a relatively warm Monday, Tuesday will suffer a cold snap compounded by 30 to 35 mile per hour wind gusts. To make the day feel even less like spring, clouds cover is expected to last throughout most of the day.
Temperatures won't climb past 60 degrees in most of the Chicago area, with highs predicted in the mid to upper 50s.
By early Wednesday morning, temperatures will fall to the mid to upper 30s in the north and northwest parts of the Chicago area. Further south, temperatures will be a little higher but won't make it beyond the low to mid 40s in the morning hours. Throughout the day, the air will warm to the mid 50s for a high.
Warmer temperatures will return on Thursday and last through the next several days, but a chance for rain and storms will persist every day.
At the end of the week, the Chicago area will see temperatures back in the upper 60s and low 70s. By next week, we'll be back in the 80s.
