Investigators still have not identified the man found dead inside a South Side Chicago home Monday, but his car may have been found just a few blocks away.
A 2004 4-door black Buick was towed away overnight Wednesday near 111th and Sangamon Streets, just four blocks from the 10800 block of South Morgan Street home that was the center of a mysterious explosion and subsequent fire earlier this week, where a man’s body was later discovered inside.
Police immediately said the fire was “suspicious” and the incident may have been triggered by arson.
On Tuesday, the Cook County medical examiner determined the man died not from the explosion or the fire, but a gunshot wound to the head. His death was then ruled a homicide.
Neighbors believe the found Buick is the victim's car, and the vehicle towed matches a police description released earlier this week. Police have yet to confirm that the vehicle towed is indeed connected with investigation into the murder.
Even before police began looking for this Buick, neighbors told NBC Chicago early Monday morning it was strange the man's car was not on the street, where it’s usually parked.

“I really didn't think anyone was in there because his car was gone and his car is always there,” said one neighbor Fred Cattledge.
Patricia Locke, the man’s ex-wife, told NBC Chicago the day of the explosion he had worked for the city of Chicago.
“I bawled,” Locke said of hearing the news. “My stomach is in knots and I cannot stop shaking, I don’t want to know.”
Police have not yet confirmed his identity, and as of Thurday there were no suspects named in the ongoing investigation.
