KFC and McDonald's revamp their menus and locations

The fast food times, they are a-changin'.

Two local fast food chains are revamping their menus and locations.

Come Thursday, KFC will offer free lunch at their first ever “float thru” restaurant.

Yes, float thru. As in boats. As in a KFC restaurant will be in the middle of Lake Michigan.

The float-thru will be just off Oak Street Beach for sailors and jet skiers alike to enjoy. The new location's opening just in time for the 2009 AVP Crocs Cup Championship Kentucky Grilled Chicken Chicago Open.

Try saying that one three times fast.

KFC is sponsoring the 2009 AVP volleyball tournament and will introduce the Grilled Chicken Value Box, Mini Melts and Brownie Bites on their value menu at the tournament.

Meanwhile,McDonald’s restaurants in Chicago and surrounding areas started selling several breakfast items on their dollar menu this week, a McDonald’s spokeswoman told the Chicago Breaking News Center. This morning it only took Chicagoans one dollar to start their day with either a sausage McMuffin, a sausage biscuit or two hot cakes.

The Oak Brook-based restaurant draws a large market for both their breakfast food and dollar menu, which have been temporarily combined in previous promotions, the spokeswoman said.

McDonald’s has not yet said how long the dollar deals at breakfast will last.

So whether it’s breakfast or boating you’ve got on the brain, Chicago fast food chains have totally got you covered.
