Wintry weather caused more than a thousand flight cancellations and some major headaches at Chicago airports on Sunday.
By 6 p.m. Sunday, an even 1,000 flights had been canceled at O'Hare International Airport, with an average delay of 44 minutes for all flights.
Midway had at least 156 flights axed due to the weather, according to the Chicago Department of Aviation, with delays averaging 20 minutes.
By Monday morning, flight cancellations were down to just 189 at O'Hare and 4 at Midway - but travelers stranded at both airports overnight were still struggling.

The flights were grounded across the city thanks to a mix of rain and wet snow that persisted in the area through most of the day, before tapering off in the late afternoon and early evening hours.
As the new work week begins, the temperatures will steadily begin to climb, likely melting all the snow that falls on Sunday. Temperatures will rise to the mid-50s on Monday and up to the mid-to-high 60s by Tuesday, according to forecast models.
