Fire on CTA Red Line Tracks Causes Delays for Riders

A fire on Chicago Transit Authority Red Line tracks rerouted trains early Thursday morning, causing significant delays for passengers ahead of the morning rush hour.

Authorities said 95th-bound Red Line trains were rerouted to elevated tracks between Fullerton and Cermak-Chinatown due to a "track condition at Jackson."

Fire officials said a wire fell under the third rail of the tracks around 3:30 a.m.

No injuries were reported Thursday morning and service began resuming just before 6 a.m.

Officials said delays were expected.
