A CTA contract worker was electrocuted in Lincoln Park Saturday afternoon, officials said.
The worker, described only as a male, was electrocuted at 4:53 p.m. near North and Halsted while doing Brown Line track work, according to the Chicago Fire Department and CTA spokeswoman Tammy Chase. She did not have additional details at 7:20 p.m.
The fire department initially said a ComEd worker was electrocuted.
The Cook County medical examiner’s office confirmed the death but could not release more information.
Crews were working on the Brown Line through the weekend “to remove slow zones and to improve rail service”as part of the Ravenswood Connector Rehabilitation Project, according to the CTA.
