An extra-alarm fire blazed through a factory building just off the Kennedy Expressway on Chicago's Northwest Side early Friday morning, leaving at least one firefighter injured.
The fire broke out just before 4 a.m. at 3925 N. Pulaski Rd. in the city's Old Irving Park neighborhood.
William Vogt, assistant deputy fire commissioner for the Chicago Fire Department, said flames were shooting through the roof at what is being called a "metal plating company."
Vogt said no one was believed to be inside the building, which was closed at the time.
Firefighters continued to battle the blaze an hour later, saying the building was a "complete loss" and the roof had collapsed.
One firefighter suffered a minor injury while battling the flames, Vogt said.
The Pulaski exit off the outbound Kennedy Expressway was closed while firefighters continued to work.
