Five Being Questioned in McDonald's Shooting

Five "persons of interest" are being questioned in connection with a shooting at a north suburban McDonald's that left a 16-year-old boy injured, officials said.

Police responded to a report of shots fired at the restaurant, in the 1900 block of South Dempster Street, shortly after 4 p.m., a release from Evanston police said.

There, officials said they found the teen with a gunshot wound to the abdomen

Evanston Fire Dept. paramedics transported a boy to Evanston Hospital, where he was was last reported in "stable" condition, said Fire Chief Greg Klaiber.

Based on descriptions given to police, officers soon found five people that may have been involved in the shooting.  Those five were detained and taken to the Evanston Police Dept. for additional questioning, police said.

Surveillance video was also being reviewed, they said.

A handgun was found under a wooden dock during a yard-to-yard search in the area where the group was seen and later captured.
