Suburban ‘Queen of Hearts' Drawing Will Soon Have a Big Winner

A suburban “Queen of Hearts” drawing that has been generating big-time buzz will finally have a big winner soon.

The drawing, which has been carrying over for more than a year, has generated a jackpot of over $6 million, and if no one pulls the Queen of Hearts in next week’s drawing, the McHenry VFW will host an official draw down on Sept. 18, the organization announced Friday.

If no winner is revealed on Sept. 11, the jackpot could rise to nearly $7 million for the drawdown on the 18th, the group says. In that situation, winning raffle tickets would be drawn and winners would get to pick cards until someone finds the Queen of Hearts and claims the big prize.

According to the Daily Herald, the winner of the drawing would receive 60 percent of the pot, which would amount to $2.4 million after taxes if a winner is picked on the 11th. Another 20 percent of the pot will go to the VFW, and the remaining 20 percent will start the next drawing, which will begin in January 2019.
