Elgin Boy, 12, Struck and Killed by Vehicle

A 12-year-old boy heading home with his brother died Wednesday after being struck by a vehicle as the pair crossed a road in Elgin.

The victim was taken to Presence St. Joseph Hospital where he later died.

Wolf said no citations had been issued as of 6 a.m. Thursday. He called the incident an accident.

The police chief said the boys lived in an apartment complex near the accident scene.

The driver of the vehicle was not injured.
