An elderly woman was robbed in broad daylight on Saturday on Chicago's North Side, according to police.
The strong-armed robbery occurred in the 3600 block of N Lake Shore Drive in the Lake View neighborhood, authorities said.
A 79-year-old woman was walking on the sidewalk at 12:35 p.m. when a man approached her and grabbed her purse, police said. She didn't let go of the purse, according to authorities, until the offender struck her.
He took her purse and she sustained non-life threatening injuries, police said.
The suspect is described only as a black male, about 5'5", and with a hood covering his face.
No one is in custody, and the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call the Chicago Police Department.
