Easter Sunday will prove to be a chilly day in the Windy City, as Chicago will see temperatures for the holiday that it hasn’t seen in at least a decade.
According to the NBC 5 Storm Team, the high temperature forecasted for this Easter Sunday is just 39 degrees, which is nearly 15 degrees below normal. The average high for April 1 in Chicago is 53 degrees, with a record low of 25 degrees measured in 1954 and a record high of 86 degrees in 1981.
Last year, Chicago enjoyed balmy temperatures for its Easter holiday, as the thermometer surged to a comfortable 73 degrees. In fact, the last four Easter’s have all been on the warm side, checking in at 63 degrees or warmer. In 2013, the temperature was 59 degrees, breaking that streak.
The last truly chilly Easter Sunday came in 2008, when the thermometer reached 37 degrees. 2007 was equally chilly, checking in at 40 degrees.
There is one bit of solace, however. There is no precipitation in the forecast for the day, so you’ll be able to wear your Sunday best without worry of getting rained on.
