Durbin: Race Helped Seat Burris

Illinois Sen. Dick Durbin said publically Sunday that race played a role in the seating of Sen. Roland Burris.

Speaking on WGN-AM radio Sunday morning, Durbin acknowleged that "racially charged language" around the appointment of Burris was a factor in Democrats seating him.

"My colleague from Illinois, Congressman Bobby Rush, made strong statements along those (racial) lines," Durbin said. "They were painful and hurtful, and it became part of this calculation."
