Man Accused of Sexually Abusing His Peacock Ordered to Have Exam

David Beckman, 64, was arrested earlier this month during investigation of child solicitation

A northwest suburban man charged with sexually abusing a peacock was ordered Wednesday by a DuPage County judge to undergo a psychological exam.

David Beckman, 64, also was taken into custody during the hearing when Judge Alex McGimpsey raised Beckman's bail to $20,000 for the misdemeanor animal cruelty charge he faces, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.

He was later released after posting the required 10 percent of his bond.

Beckman was arrested earlier this month. Police said the peacock, Phyl, was found dead during their investigation into a child solicitation case.
