DuPage Children’s Museum on Track For Summer Opening

The building has been closed since Jan. 8 when a pipe burst, flooded the museum, and damaged displays

The Dupage Children's Museum, closed since January after suffering water damage from a burst pipe, is on track for a summer reopening.

Officials at the museum, at 301 N. Washington St., in Naperville, originally wanted to reopen last month but pushed those plans back with a goal of reopening "better and stronger than ever," officials said in a post on the museum's website.

The building has been closed since Jan. 8 when a pipe burst, flooded the museum, and damaged displays. A smaller, temporary museum later opened at the Westfield Fox Valley Mall in Aurora.

Museum officials are hoping patrons will help them turn their "lemons into lemonade" and contribute to a fund to redo displays. Insurance is covering the costs of repair to damaged portions of the building, they said.
