The driver of a street sweeper was cited for running a red light leading to a fatal accident in Orland Park Sunday night, police said.
Nazai Deis, 62, Wafieh Deis, 49, and Samah Deis, 15, were killed when a street sweeper collided with their truck at the intersection of 171st Street and LaGrange Road.
Witnesses have confirmed the driver clearly ran the red light and was responsible for the accident, said Keating.
Orland Park police are not releasing the driver’s name until further investigation of the case, Commander John Keating told the Southtown Star on Tuesday.
Samples of the driver’s blood and urine were sent to the Illinois State Police crime lab to see if drugs or alcohol had been a contributing factor to the crash.
The funerals for Nazai Deis, his wife, Wafieh Deis, and their daughter Samah were held on Tuesday.
