Driver Killed In Suspected Road Rage Incident

Man shot after throwing cup of water at passing vehicle

A 23-year-old East Chicago man is dead after what police believe was a shooting provoked by a road rage incident Thursday.

Police say Montrell Moss was driving north on Indianapolis Boulevard when he threw a cup full of water at a van driving alongside him.

According to the Northwest Indiana Times, the driver of the van fired a shot from a 9 mm handgun, hitting Moss in the neck and fleeing the scene.

Moss was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

A passenger in Moss' vehicle was speaking with police at the scene and noticed the van driving by. Officers stopped the vehicle and say a gun and shell casing was found inside .

The 61-year-old male driver was arrested and murder charges are pending, the newspaper reports.
