Illinois State Police say that they have taken a driver into custody in connection with a fatal hit-and-run on the Eisenhower Expressway Sunday morning.

Police announced Sunday afternoon that they had taken a woman into custody, but did not identify her, and said that the investigation into the crash, which claimed the life of one man and injured four others, is still ongoing.

At about 4:45 a.m. Sunday morning, a taxi cab broke down in the westbound lanes on the Eisenhower, near the Homan Avenue exit ramp, according to Illinois State Police. Authorities say that five men exited the car and were walking up an exit ramp when they were struck from behind by a vehicle.

Illinois State Police say a taxi carrying five passengers broke down on the Eisenhower early Sunday morning and a vehicle that hit all five pedestrians- killing at least one, took off. NBC 5’s Chris Hush reports.

Anan Ahmed H. Albalawi, 27, of the 100 block of Country Estate in Morehead Kentucky was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police. The other four men were transported to local hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.
