The collision happened at West Diversey and North Albany Avenues.

One person is dead after a vehicle collided with a CTA bus on the Northwest Side Saturday morning.

The collision happened at West Diversey and North Albany Avenues around 6:30 a.m., according to a tweet from Fire Media Affairs.

A CTA No. 76 Diversey bus was heading eastbound on Diversey when a car traveling southbound on Albany turned into the path of the bus, CTA spokesman Steve Mayberry said.

The driver of the vehicle, Jose Barrueta, was pinned in the accident and had to be cut out of the wreckage, Fire Media Affairs said. He was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

No one else was hurt in the crash.

Chicago Transit Authority had temporarily rerouted No. 76 Diversey buses to accommodate crews working on the scene. The buses returned to normal service operations around 10 a.m., according to the CTA website.
