Dozens of Chicago businesses have been cited for violations after a crackdown by the city on party buses and valet operators, officials said Friday.
Chicago police say the city's crackdown on party buses is working. Back in April the city passed legislation requiring owners of party buses to employ security guards and to take steps to ensure no illegal guns were on board.
Since that time 41 problem vehicles have been cited and just this week four companies received cease and desist orders, city officials said.
Rosa Escareno is commissioner of Chicago's Department of Business Affairs and Consumer Protection, which has also worked with Chicago police to crackdown on valet operators.
"Bottom line--you are not good operator, we don't need you in Chicago," said Escareno said.
The BACP targeted 18 valets in the city's central business district which resulted in 35 citations for issues including lack of insurance and illegally parked cars.
"Patrons to restaurants and hotels should feel confident when turning over keys to a valet operator," Escareno said.

The Viceroy Hotel on North State, the Comfort Suites Hotel on North Michigan and the Cambria Hotel and Suites on West Randolph were cited for having unlicensed valets.
Amanda kosiek says her car was damaged by a valet two months ago.
"I feel like that prob happens way more than we think," she said. "You would think nice hotel, you can trust them with your car."
The valets in the crackdown were selected at random.
The city plans to do more random inspections in the months to come, officials say.
