Dog Stolen From Chicago-Area Animal Shelter Found Safe

Mr. Reese, an 8-year-old Jack Russell terrier that was stolen from a suburban Chicago animal shelter over the weekend, has been found, the shelter announced Tuesday morning.

"Mr. Reese is safe & sound!!!" Heartland Animal Shelter in Northbrook posted on their Facebook page just before 10 a.m. "We are ecstatic to have found him!!"

Details on how the dog was found were not immediately available.

The shelter said earlier that Mr. Resse was taken from his cage at the facility after someone broke in sometime between 7 p.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. Sunday. He was neutered and micro-chipped.

A $1,000 reward was being offered for his safe return.
