A pit bull named Dudley was found decapitated behind his owner’s home after the dog was reported stolen from the residence in Valparaiso, police said Friday.
Dudley was reported missing from the 6 block of Dumas Street in about 6 p.m. Wednesday evening, police said. The following day, the dog’s owner called police and told them she found Dudley decapitated near a set of railroad tracks near her home, police said.
Police were investigating the grisly death Friday and following up on leads provided by Dudley’s owner.
The Valparaiso Police Department said in a news release the death did not appear to be a random incident.
