A man already in custody was scheduled to be in bond court Thursday after DNA evidence linked him to a robbery-homicide in Chicago's Englewood neighborhood in 2009, authorities said.
George Patterson, 51, faces one cout of murder in connection to an Aug. 9, 2009 incident, according to a release by Chicago Police. He was charged Wednesday.
Patterson allegedly broke into a home on the 6800 block of South Marshfield between 3:30 a.m and 5 a.m. that day and beat and strangled a 57-year-old woman during a burglary, officials said.
George Patterson, of the 1400 block of South Canal Street, has nine prior felony convictions, police said. He is already incarcerated on a theft charge, according to Illinois Department of Corrections records.
