In celebration of Earth Day, Divvy is giving away free bike rides to Chicagoans next week as they look to encourage residents to try out the bike sharing service.
On Friday, the company announced that they would offer a free 24-hour “Explorer” pass on April 22 to encourage residents to utilize the service for their Monday commutes, or to explore the area.
“Start your week off right this Earth Day and hop on a bike for a carbon-neutral, free commute,” Divvy Market Manager Adrian Crededio said in a statement. “If you’ve never ridden Divvy before, Earth Day 2019 is a great time to give it a try.”

Riders can obtain their free pass by downloading the Divvy app, selecting an Explorer Pass, and using the promo code EARTHDAY19. The code will give riders 24 hours of unlimited three-hour rides on Divvy bikes, according to the company.
The company says that nearly 500,000 trips have already been taken on the service so far this year, offsetting up to 600,000 pounds of carbon from entering the atmosphere.
An annual membership for the service costs $99, and Explorer Passes are available for unlimited three-hour rides in any 24-hour period for $15 a day. 30-minute rides can also be purchased for $3, the company says.
