Despite Winter Storm, Chicagoans Still Using Bikeshare Program

Despite a winter storm that closed schools, driver’s facilities, and other offices, a group of hearty Chicagoans showed some serious dedication to the art of getting around town.

According to Divvy, over 200 people have used the bikesharing program on Friday, even with more than six inches of snow standing in their way.

“Hundreds of these Chicagoans who were undeterred by Mother Nature displayed an impressive measure of commitment to get where they needed by bike, no matter the elements,” the company said in a press release.

The company says that most of the 236 riders were members of the bikesharing program, but six people purchased single ride and explorer passes to try the program out despite the harsh weather.

If you want to join that group of intrepid riders, the company suggests that you bundle up and that you wear bright-colored clothing so that you stand out on the road.
