Ditka ‘Look-a-Like' Contest to be Held at Chicago Bar

There’s a new “like Mike” coming to Chicago, and it’s got nothing to do with NBA legend Michael Jordan.

This time, Chicagoans will be putting together best Mike Ditka ensembles -- mustaches, sweater vests, cigars and all -- to see who’s the best Ditka doppelganger.

Double Door’s “Mike Ditka Look-A-Like Contest,” will take place Sunday at the Wicker Park bar, 1551 N. Damen.

Among those judging Da Coach’s look-a-likes are Super Bowl champion Otis Wilson, Chicago Bears legend James “Big Cat” Williams and other Bears stars.

All proceeds from the event will benefit the Otis Wilson Charitable Association.

The contest winner will receive two tickets to the Monday night Bears game vs. the Dallas Cowboys, including the Ditka jersey number retirement ceremony at halftime.

The Bears announced plans earlier this year to retire Ditka’s number. Da Coach, who played for the Bears' 1963 championship team and coached the 1985 squad to a Super Bowl, win will be honored at the Dec. 9 Chicago game against Dallas, another team Ditka played for. No longer will a Bear wear No. 89.

George McCaskey made it clear the Bears won't retire any more numbers after this one, so no one should get their hopes up about No. 54.

Ditka's number will be the 14th retired number. With 53 players on an active roster, eight practice squad players and tight restrictions on which positions can wear certain numbers, they don't have room to retire many more.
