For a family mourning the loss of a young loved one, the promise of hearing what happened from two drivers who struck and killed 21-year-old Miriam Benezra -- maybe even get an apology -- was somehow comforting. But as the day approached, Benezra's family heard from its lawyer that there was a problem. The officer at the scene had given a court date of June 30, 2008, to the two drivers and the tickets might be dismissed on a technicality.
