Report Says Chicago Is Nation's 4th ‘Dirtiest' City

Trailing only New York, Los Angeles and Riverside-San Bernardino, Chicago ranked as the fourth dirtiest city in the U.S.

Chicago is apparently one of the dirtiest cities in the country, according to a new report.

Trailing only New York, Los Angeles and Riverside-San Bernardino, Chicago ranked as the fourth dirtiest city in the U.S.

The report, released by BusyBee, a cleaning service in NYC, combines data from the Environmental Protection Agency, the American Housing Survey and the U.S. Census Bureau to rank 40 metropolitan areas based on "dirtiness."

It looked at litter, pest data, air quality measures and population density reports.

Chicago, according to the report, has a "dirtiness index" of 220.9, compared to New York's 427.9. It received some of its highest numbers for pests and litter, with 471,000 homes showing signs of mice, rats and cockroaches in the past 12 months, according to the report.

Pests weighed down LA's score and also affected Riverside/Bernardino, though the latter had more of a pollution problem.
