During this season of holiday parties, we cannot stress enough the importance of having a designated driver. We should also note, your designated driver should be sober.
Two men in Naperville didn't seem to understand that concept.
A police officer pulled over an SUV just north of the city's downtown area just after 2 a.m. on November 29 after observing the vehicle make "several traffic violations,".
Sitting at the wheel was Gerard R. Kubicz, 30, of Lisle.
In the passenger seat was Kristopher T. Zitt, 29, of Aurora.
Zitt explained to the officer that "he had had too much to drink to drive," and—being a convicted drunken driver—he knew that it would be best if someone else drove him home. So he gave the keys to his friend, Kubicz.
But when the officer gave Kubicz a sobriety test, he found that the driver was also drunk.

Not exactly a sobering thought.
The officer arrested the men. Kubicz was charged with driving under the influence, and Zitt was accused of knowingly permitting a person under the influence to drive.
Both are free on bail, and arraignment dates are pending.
