Former Chicago Bulls star Derrick Rose has found his new NBA home, and he’ll be surrounded by familiar faces.
Rose, who was traded by the Cleveland Cavaliers and then was waived by the Utah Jazz earlier this year, has signed a deal with the Minnesota Timberwolves, the team announced Thursday.
The contract once again links Rose up with former head coach Tom Thibodeau, who was his coach with the Bulls earlier in the decade. Rose won an MVP Award and reached an Eastern Conference Final under Thibodeau, but knee injuries ultimately derailed his career in Chicago.
Rose will also be reunited in Minnesota with Jimmy Butler, who was traded to the Timberwolves at the 2017 NBA Draft, and Taj Gibson, who signed a free agent contract with the team during the offseason.
Rose averaged 9.8 points and 1.8 rebounds per game with the Cavaliers before he was traded in a flurry of deadline day moves by the team.
