Boudia, Johnson Take Silver in Synchronized Swimming

The two performed five dives in the men’s synchronized 10m final Monday

American's David Boudia and Steele Johnson turned in a strong performance to score 457.11 points and secure the silver medal. 

Boudia, at his third Olympics, qualified with Indianapolis-native Steele Johnson in the 10-meter synchro, an event in which he won bronze in London with Nick McCrory.

The reigning champion made his first Olympic appearance in the 2008 Beijing Olympics as a 19-year-old. There, he finished fifth individually on the 10m platform. But in London, he became the Olympic champion, winning gold on the platform and bronze in the synchronized platform.

The Rio Games mark Johnson's first Olympics. The 20-year-old also qualified in the individual 10-meter.

The competition was intense, with almost every competing team considered to be medal contenders.

Among the top duos Boudia and Johnson faced were China’s Chen Aisen and Lin Yue and Germany’s Patrick Hausding and Sascha Klein.
