$20K Reward Offered for Cabbie in Fatal Dragging

Dan Firkins was in drug-induced coma for a week before he died

Friends of a man who died after being dragged by a Chicago cab over a week ago have amassed $20,000 in reward funds to help the investigation.

Dan Firkins was critically injured the afternoon of Friday, May 14 when a cab driver sped off with Firkins partly still in the vehicle.  He was in a drug-induced coma but died over the weekend.

"We're trying to find the cabdriver because we're trying to piece together the story," Firkins' friend, Scott Walter, told the Chicago Tribune.  "We know Danny died, and it seems needless. But without the cabdriver, we can't piece together what his last moments were like. We're trying to get some closure for the family."

The newspaper, citing sources, reports that the two men may have not been arguing, as it has been reported.
